Mutt Malas Donation + Grey’s Haven Sanctuary visit!

This past week I had the pleasure of visiting Grey’s Haven Sanctuary in Pt Colborne. I found out about this amazing place from The Vegan Hippy Chick’s instagram (see who says Insta is a total waste of time!).

Anyway, I reached out to Michelle (at Grey’s) and told her I would love to come and check out her sanctuary. As most of you guys know, I have a passion project called Mutt Malas, where I make Mala necklaces and bracelets and donate 100% of the proceeds to various rescues and sanctuaries. And I wanted to donate my next bit of MuttMala cash to her space ! So we set up a visit!! (PS Thanks to all your purchases, I was able to donate $200 this month!!)

My mom and I went to visit Grey’s together, and Michelle was so wonderful ๐Ÿ™‚  She was clearly SO passionate about her animals and couldn’t wait to tell us about them all.

*** Before I go any further, I have to say that most of these beautiful pics are Michelle’s… I was too busy chatting and playing with the animals to take my own!! My mom did take a few as well – Thanks for letting me borrow for this post! ***

When we pulled up in the driveway we were immediately greeted by Leo (an adorable black lab). He was so happy to have visitors, and brought us various things throughout our visit to throw for him!

Shortly behind him came Teddy. OMG Teddy. This little man absolutely stole my heart. He’s a 9 week old goat and couldn’t have been any cuter, or sweeter.

He was just like a puppy, following us around and cuddling up to our feet if we stood in one place for too long!

WTF is my face doing here?!

I could have snuggled with him the whole time we were there (and I honestly did for the majority of the visit!!!) He seemed super happy to be held – very content with the love!

Michelle told us about how she got started and how she went from fostering a bunch of cats a while back, (a few of which still live with her!) to having as she puts it ‘a bunch of fur and feather kids’!

This is Grey. She’s the beauty that the whole sanctuary is named after. Michelle says that she looks after everyone that lives there. She knows if something is amiss and will sound her alarm to alert the humans. She came to Michelle when she was only hatched with splay legs (almost like she was doing the splits) but after a little love and TLC she was able to walk and making friends.

Before she knew it, Michelle was proud mama to 7 goats of all different ages.

It’s really important to her to be able to share her love of these beautiful creatures with anyone interested in visiting. She was telling us they hosted their first school group last week and it went wonderfully. The kids were super excited to learn about all the animals and the animals LOVE the attention and the visitors so it’s a win/win.

Michelle has big plans. She definitely isn’t ‘done’ growing her farm (But don’t tell her hubby that!! ๐Ÿ˜‰ )

The sanctuary will be having their first Annual Open house at the end of August this summer, and I can’t wait to see how it goes. It’s really wonderful to have somewhere like this so close to home and I am so pleased to have been able to support Michelle and all her babes through Mutt Malas sales. She’s on instagram, facebook, and her website is here. Check her out, shoot her a message or better yet, go by for one of their events (Ummm… Camping with GOATS!?!).

I know the shadows in this pic will drive you nuts, Michelle!

I can’t wait to see what the future holds for you and all your babes, Michelle! See you soon and thank you again so much for sharing your wonderful haven with us!
