So, I was going to attempt to do a post on Essential oils, until I realized I might as well just ask my cousin to do it for me. She’s fallen totally in love with natural health and has been learning like crazy over the last 6 months. Check it out!
Hey guys,
I’m Amy!
I started using essential oils 6 months ago and fell in love with them instantly! I love how the oils make me feel, think and how diverse they are. Itโs up to US to be advocates for our own health and be proactive with our wellness. Unfortunately, many of the products we use today, from supplements, to medications and personal care products are full of synthetics and toxic chemicals and most of us donโt even realize what we are using. The good news is that itโs REALLY easy to change the products we use with more Natural Solutions. I believe we all have the choice in how we think and what we put in our bodies. So many people around us are suffering from mental illness or being diagnosed with a disease. I have came to the realization that why wouldnโt I want to take care of myself. Without our health we struggle with balancing the rest of our life. You have the choice to live a healthy and balanced lifestyle.
WHAT ARE ESSENTIAL OILS?
If you have ever enjoyed the scent of a rose, youโve experienced the aromatic qualities of essential oils. These naturally occurring, volatile aromatic compounds are found in the seeds, bark, stems, roots, flowers, and other parts of plants. In addition to their intrinsic benefits to plants and their beautiful fragrance, essential oils have long been used for food preparation, beauty treatment, and health-care practices.
HOW TO USE ESSENTIAL OILS?
1. Aromatic: This application method helps create an atmosphere where several individuals can enjoy the calming, stimulating, and soothing benefits of essential oils. You can use the oils in a diffuser, 1 drop rubbed on palms of hands and inhaled and on a cotton ball in pillowcase.
2. Topical: Essential oils are safely and easily absorbed by the skin allowing you to use a variety of topical application techniques to different parts of your body.
-use directly on the body
-added to a carrier oil or lotion
-added to spray bottle with distilled water
(I pre-make my rollerballs so they are handy and ease to use when I need them)
3. Internal: Whether you are taking capsules or the oil itself, essential oils can be used as dietary supplements supporting a variety of healthy conditions.
-place under tongue
-in empty capsule
-in beverage
-cooking

A few safety things to consider when using essential oils. When applying topically you need to keep in mind if you are using on an adult or child. Different dilution is required for little ones to keep them safe. It is also to be aware that citrus oils are photosensitive and if applied directly to your skin and you go out into the sun you are more susceptible to a sun burn. Never apply the oils directly into your eyes or ear canals. If you do use a carrier oil to help remove from your eye. Keep in mind a little goes a long way. With pure essential oils it is best to take the approach of less is more!
Essential oils are so diverse and can be used in so many ways. For example, a bottle of lemon essential oil can be used for cleaning such as laundry detergent and all purpose cleaner, cooking, and adding a drop to your water.
There are so many oils to choose from and use. I will touch on some of my favourite oils to use. They are Deep Blue, Lavender, peppermint and wild orange.
Deep Blue-after long hours on a computer, try rubbing deep blue essential oil blend on your fingers, wrists, shoulders and neck. Itโs the perfect blend to use after exercise. I love using this after a long run.
Lavender-I use it in aromatherapy as a calmative, I also love adding a few drops to my pillow as part of my nightly routine. I also use them in Epsom salt baths!
Peppermint โused in aromatherapy a carminative and antispasmodic for symptomatic relief of digestive discomfit. I diffuse it with Wild orange for a mid-day pick me up too!
Wild orange-powerful cleanser and purifying agent for the skin(use it in my DIY face wipes)
Fun Factโฆ.Did you know that Health Canada has an approved list of DoTerra essential oils as natural health products!
Also, did you know that doTerra does not test on animals( I know this is huge for Andrea Gnys) and huge part of why I love the company is because they have a Healing Hands foundation as well.
The doTERRA Healing Hands Foundationโข is non-profit organization committed to improving lives and seeks to bring healing and hope to the world, help those live lives free of disease and poverty, and to ultimately empower impoverished communities with the tools needed to become self-reliant. doTERRA covers for all overhead and administrative costs of the doTERRA Healing Hands Foundation, ensuring that 100% of all donations go directly to those receiving aid.
