Where do I even start?
This past Monday – July 11th, I turned 30 — holy crap, what a week it has been!
Anyone who knows me, or anyone that has spent more than 2 seconds looking at my blog or instagram page, knows that I have a huge heart for animals. I want to save them all.
My wonderful, huge hearted, always super thoughtful husband planned such a great birthday for me (with multiple parts, of course!)
It started a couple weeks ago when he told me I’d be receiving 30 days of birthday (with a twist!). I did something similar for him last year… only in this case, he’s organized ’30 days of donations’. So clever! So each day, I’ve been opening a card from a friend or family member… and each one has contained $20 to be donated to Tierra de Animales (in Mexico, where Pedro is from). By the end of the month I’ll have close to $600 to donate all because of my generous friends and family members, and my super thoughtful hubby. It’s been awesome!!!
I’ve included some of the cards here ๐ I know It’ll be hard to see them, but you get the idea!
On my actual birthday, since it was a Monday, Greg and I taught our usual ‘sweat’ class at Golds Gym.
Following class, we went out for an AMAZING dinner at Cotto Pizzeria . OMGGGGG!!!! It was so good. Great night here with my gym fam.
The Sangria you see in my hand was really somethin special! haha SO DELICIOUS!
Speaking of something special… this shot… My goodness. Again, anyone who knows me knows I DO NOT do shots. I made it through my own stag and doe, 2 bachelorette parties and my wedding without having to do any! I will throw up. But this was a Burt Reynolds (which is delicious), topped with HOMEMADE Whipped Cream (by the amazing Byron!) I would do ANY shot if it was topped with this whipped cream goodness. WOW.
I also got Byron’s famous tiramisu which was of course, out of this world. DELISH.
And if all that wasn’t enough, they spoiled me with flowers, too! Some of my faves!!! So beautiful. THANK You guys x a million. So much love.
On Thursday, Greg took me out for a little date night/birthday dinner just the two of us. We went to Mezcalaria on Commercial drive and were not disappointed. We both love mexican food, and their cocktails were out of this world. Wonderful eve with my love!
I also received a lovely surprise in the mail on Thursday from a couple friends back home.
AHHHHH!!! So thoughtful, and I can not WAIT to try it!! Thanks Scrags and Timbo!
And if all that wasn’t enough, Greg threw a ‘White Trash Bash’ in our yard yesterday… which was really the icing on the cake to an amazing birthday week! In keeping with the donating theme, he was able to get a bunch of beers and ciders donated from my wonderful teammates at Big Rock… he charged $3, or 4 for $10 for the beers and ciders, and he also made veggie burgers at $4 per. All the $$ is going to Tierra De Animales — and we were able to raise $525 dollars, just from all of our White Trash Bashers. SO MUCH FUN!!!!
Here’s just a couple snippets from our day yesterday.
Special shout out to my beautiful friend Sarah (who you can see in the pic above) who happens to be 3 weeks away from her due date and looking AMAZING. She helped Greg pull this day off, and also made ridiculously amazing blueberry and apple crumble (gluten free!). I so appreciate your help and I know Greggie did too.
And of course, to my amazing hubby – you know me better than anyone and I couldn’t have asked for a more perfect way to celebrate 30. Cheers to a million more years to come with you by my side.
My heart is so filled with love this week and I really can’t express my gratitude to everyone involved in making this week (and really, birthday MONTH) so spectacular. It means the world to me to be able to spend time with my friends and fam, all while being able to raise some money for a cause so near and dear to me.
THANK YOU! thank you, thank you!
Love each and every one of you!
30 is pretty awesome!!!
