Happy Hump Day you guys!!!
TODAY IS THE DAY!! We’re flying out in just a couple hours and we are exxxxcited!
I’m going to be posting my Hawaii Essentials shortly, so stay tuned for that, but in the meantime I wanted to share my results with you guys from January until now. If you missed the post talking about my challenge and what it was all about, check it out here.
Basically the gist of it is that Greg motivated me with some coupons he made (so sweet! haha) and the point of them was, for every 2.5lbs I lost, I got to donate $50 to an animal rescue of my choice. So the goal was to be down 10lbs and be able to donate $200 in total.
Check out my results:
To the eye, it might not look like that different… and of course, I can see the results because I’ve been looking at myself every day. haha BUT – the numbers don’t lie… ESPECIALLY the measurements.
This is the first time I’ve been below 125lbs in about 3 years… so I’m really happy.
I started at 133lbs on Jan 1st, and today, Feb 24, I finished at 124.7. = total loss of 8.3lbs
I didn’t QUITE hit the 10lb mark… but it’s a journey and I will get there eventually. And Greggie was so proud of my discipline and commitment, he’s letting me round up to 10lbs and donate the full $200. haha WOOO!! What a guy!
What I am SUPER stoked about though, is my measurements. I wish I would have taken more (ie: arms and legs too), but here’s what I found.
Waist: Started at 29 inches and finished at 26.5 = 2.5inches down
Hips: Started at 34.5 inches and finished at 30.75 = 3.75inches down
I wish we included ‘inches’ in my goals as well, since this sometimes is more significant than the weight on the scale.
This is the first time in a really long time that I’ve actually been really strict about my diet. And make no mistake… I wasn’t starving myself by ANY means. I just focused on (mainly) plant-based, whole foods. For the whole month of January, I followed a vegan diet (and felt awesome!). I also didn’t drink for the month of January. For the month of February, I mostly continued with the booze free/plant-based diet with the exception of a few pieces of fish over the month and a couple glasses of wine.
It really is different for every person (of course!) and what worked for me might not work for you. But for me, having the motivation of being able to donate a couple hundred bucks to an animal rescue of my choice was a HUGE motivator for me and definitely kept me on track. So THANK YOU Greggie for that wonderful push that I needed.
My donation for anyone who is interested will be going to Tierra De Animales. You guys know this is a place near and dear to my heart because it’s where Pedro is from, and I just really admire the amazing work they do.
